Welcome to Hartshorn Organic Farm
Where the food feeds your body — and the land feeds your spirit.
Tucked along Route 100 in Waitsfield, Vermont, Hartshorn Organic Farm is a working certified organic farm, a community gathering place, and a living classroom all at once. Whether you're stopping by the farm stand for the freshest vegetables in the valley, booking a farm tour, or tapping into our online green living resources — you're welcome here.
Come See Us
The farm stand is open seven days a week from June through October, stocked with what Dave is harvesting that week — organic vegetables, pick-your-own strawberries and blueberries in season, award-winning maple syrup from our sugarhouse, local jams, pickled veggies, and other Vermont-made goods.
This is real food, grown the way food is supposed to be grown — by a fifth-generation Vermont farmer who has been certified organic for over thirty years and knows this land the way most people know their own kitchen.
Farm Stand Hours Monday–Friday, 10am–5:30pm | Saturday–Sunday, 10am–4pm, June-October
We also offer a flexible CSA model that fits your lifestyle and supports the farm. Ask us about it.
Experience the Farm
There is something that happens when you walk these fields, taste a cherry tomato still warm from the vine, and hear the story of how food actually gets from soil to plate. People don't forget it.
Our 90-minute farm tours — led by Amy, a nationally recognized green living educator and TEDx speaker — take you through the fields, the half-acre hydroponic greenhouse, Dave's maple sugarhouse, and Amy's home gardens. You'll learn what organic really means, what sets this food apart, and how the choices made on a farm like this ripple out into the health of your family and your home.
An optional farm-to-table seasonal lunch is available as an add-on — vegetarian, farm-sourced, and worth every bite.
Tours are by appointment, ideal for conscious consumers, food lovers, gardeners, and wellness seekers ages 12 and up.

The People Behind the Farm
Dave Hartshorn is a fifth-generation steward of this land. He became the first certified organic farmer in the Mad River Valley over thirty years ago, guided by a philosophy as simple as it is rare: put back into the land what you take out. His produce, his maple syrup, and his quiet expertise speak for themselves.
Amy (Todisco) Hartshorn is a green living educator with over thirty years of experience in nontoxic living, clean food, and holistic health. She was the founding Executive Director of the Household Toxins Institute, served as technical editor of Green Living for Dummies, and hosts the Green Living Now podcast and YouTube channel. She is a confirmed TEDx speaker for Fall 2026.
Together, they've built something that is genuinely hard to find — a place where clean food, honest farming, and real education exist in the same place at the same time.
Rooted in Vermont. Grown with love. Shared with you.
